Our "Against All Odds" survivor series highlights the remarkable resilience of those who have reached out to our organization. Despite facing domestic violence and or human trafficking in their lives, these survivors have shown incredible strength and courage in taking a step forward to overcome their struggles.
Meet Gaby
When Gaby reached out to our advocate, she was afraid and filled with so much shame. She didn't know how to leave her abuser or where to get support as she was about to give birth to her 3rd child. That's when Our advocate provided a safe place for Gaby to open up and heal.
Our advocate shared resources to local services, provided her with food, clothes, diapers, baby items, furniture, basic toiletries, feminine hygiene, advocacy, referrals, and support.
Gaby is doing so much better. She continues to work hard and rebuild her life. She has a full-time job and takes care of her children.
Meet Carla
Carla arrived at our center in so much despair. She shared how the abuse she endured was the factor in losing custody of her son and her home. Through her tears she shared that she was afraid for her life and had no idea what to do next. Now homeless, she was looking to get into a shelter but didn't know where to start.
Carla expressed how hard it was for her to ask for help, she didn't expect to find any. She began her healing journey. As a survivor she has endured so much yet has worked so hard. She is the definition of a survivor warrior
Meet Jim
When Jim initially approached our office, he was in a dire state, having been stabbed 16 times by his wife. Overwhelmed by feelings of embarrassment and isolation, he felt utterly alone. However, our advocate worked closely with Jim, connecting him to various resources and advocating on his behalf.
Jim was uncertain if he was experiencing domestic violence. However, with the help of our team's awareness and education efforts, he eventually recognized that he was in an unhealthy relationship that had nearly cost him his life.
Jim has been able to completely turn his life around and rebuild it. We are immensely grateful for all that you've done for us, and we hope that you can continue to contribute to our cause. With your donation, we can assist more survivors like Jim in their journey to recovery.
